越南，全称越南社会主义共和国，是一片形如字母“S”的地带，位于东南亚大陆东部边缘，面积331,236平方公里，人口9600万。 越南北与中国接壤，西与老挝和柬埔寨接壤，通过泰国湾与泰国接壤，通过南海与菲律宾、印度尼西亚和马来西亚接壤。 其领土的四分之三由山脉和丘陵组成，海岸线长达3000多公里。 越南有63个省市，首都在河内，最大的城市是胡志明市。
Vietnam, officially the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, a strip of land shaped like the letter “S”, is located at the eastern edge of mainland Southeast Asia, with an area of 331,236 square kilometres and population of 96 millions. Vietnam borders China to the north, Laos and Cambodia to the west, and shares maritime borders with Thailand through the Gulf of Thailand, and the Philippines, Indonesia, and Malaysia through the South China Sea. Three quarters of its territory comprise mountains and hills and it has over 3,000 km long coastline. Vietnam has 63 Provinces and municipalities, with its capital in Hanoi, and the largest city is Ho Chi Ming City.

Getting to Vietnam
By Air
There are 22 airports in Vietnam: 11 domestic and 11 international. The three main gateways are Not Bai International Airport in Hanoi (HAN), Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City (SGN), and Da Nang International Airport in Danang (DAD).
Getting to Vietnam by Bus or Train
New routes and services are making it easier everyday to reach Vietnam from neighbouring countries of China, Laos, and Cambodia.
Getting to Vietnam by Boat
Boat trips pass through the most beautiful places of Vietnam such as Halong Bay, Mekong Delta, and more. However, at present, there are only 2 trains going from Thailand to Vietnam and from Singapore to Vietnam. Other cruise trains have yet to be put back into operation.

Trains
The North and South are connected by a single, 2,600km-track network managed by Vietnam Railways.
The Reunification Express isn’t really a train. It's a line connecting Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, completed by the French in 1936. The 36-hour scenic ride makes stops in Hue, Danang, Nha Trang, and Phan Thiet.
Buses
Open-tour buses are an increasingly popular service for budget travelers, especially in Vietnam's southern and central regions.
Taxi
Taxis are plentiful in most Vietnamese cities.

Climate
Vietnam has both a tropical climate zone and a temperate climate zone, with all of the country experiencing the effects of the annual monsoon. Rainy seasons correspond to monsoon circulations, which bring heavy rainfall in the north and south from May to October, and in the central regions from September to January.
